Proud of myself; excited for the next chapter

When I started college just under two years ago, I had only one camera body, and two kit lenses. Little did I know I was going to spend literal THOUSANDS over the next couple of years. If I added it all up, I know the number would be scary. But I have ✨invested✨ in my education, in my future career, and in my creativity.

I’ve learned an amazing amount and I’m so happy to have gone through this, even with the bumps, baby bump included, that I have faced.

I knew that if I ended up graduating, I would want a custom made tooled leather grad cap topper. I waited until spring break to get started in case the world ended and I would never see the stage.

I didn’t. I finished it. It didn’t take as long as I think I had hoped it would. I completed it in a weekend. I’m truly excited, and way proud.

I haven’t done any work with leather since 2021. When I got my hands back on leather and felt the ease of old habit using the swivel knife letting me cut through like soft butter. It reminded me why I love leatherwork so much. I’ve decided to make a few more things with leather, including a strap for my smaller camera bag.

I ordered a new camera body a couple weeks ago, and I’m in love with it. It came bundled with a wide angle lens, a small bag and a memory chip. With that order, I bought the Lensbaby Omni filter kit. And then I bought the ‘Sweet 50’ Lensbaby. I am so excited for the things I can create with my new gear.

I took a few shots with my phone, although it was hard to keep the filters in place, there are t any adapters for the kit to fit my phone.

I recently was given a large plant by my mom, and have been trying to get it to perk up a bit. In the morning sun, the light brought out the bright colors and designs in the leaves of it.

My golden retriever was on the look out through the big window in my living room. His beautiful red hair was shining in the sun too, and I tried to capture it but he wouldn’t stay still. He just wanted to give me ‘good morning, mama’ smooches.

I love the distortion of color and the fragmented angles the filters create.

I’m excited to use these when I do a photoshoot with a beloved friend later this evening. I’ll post them here when I can.

I’m working really hard on my portfolio. Mostly for my portfolio development class but also because I am planning to submit to an art show later this year and I really want a lot of work done before then. I’m letting my hopes float up. I’m hoping that I can get game changing work.

I am going to add on the tail end, some of the exhibition images that I submitted for my Portfolio Development Class. Last weeks assignment was on Minimalism. I enjoy this concept.

That’s it for now. Thanks for reading!
